Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from My Health Record or existing systems?
Unlike government systems, WEL is truly user-owned. You decide exactly what goes in, who sees it, and for how long. It's a living narrative of your health, not just a clinical record.
Who is the app really for?
WEL is for anyone navigating complex health journeys—chronic illness, disability, neurodivergence, or aging. It’s for the people who are tired of repeating their story to every new specialist.
How do you protect the health data?
Security is our foundation. We use Australian privacy-aligned infrastructure and FHIR-compliant data structures. Your data is encrypted and accessible only by you or those you explicitly authorize.
How do you make money?
To remain independent and patient-focused, we operate on a transparent subscription model. We do not—and will never—sell your health data to third parties or advertisers.
Where are you up to with the app?
Our MVP (Minimum Viable Product) is currently live and being tested by early adopters. We’re constantly refining the experience based on real user feedback before our full public launch.
What made you start this?
WEL was born from the direct experience of health system fragmentation. We saw the toll that retelling trauma and losing documents takes on patients and families, and we knew there had to be a better way.
